Now that the fall semester is over, you might be wondering what the spring semester plans are looking like. Our school does have plans in place for a return to school, although it seems unlikely that we go back as long as the number of Covid-19 cases stay the same or even keep rising.
LAUSD has released a return to campus guide, containing information on what a return to school would look like next semester. This can be found on the LAUSD website. The two options are hybrid learning or online learning, and families could choose between the two, however, the ability to go back to school is based on the current “health and science information”. Although there are plans for hybrid learning, if the current Covid-19 case levels stay where they are, we will not be returning to school. The superintendent said in his most recent update, “It is no longer safe and appropriate to have any students on campus.” Unless something drastic and unexpected happens, we will not be returning to school next semester.
In the event that it happens, hybrid learning would involve students returning to school for a “portion of the week with fewer students on campus at any given time”. While on campus, students would remain with the same cohort of kids. When not on campus, students would continue online learning. For more information, visit the LAUSD website.
As for online school, there are no major changes coming. It is possible that there will be slight changes to the schedule or how students go to school to pick up books, but overall, online school for the spring semester should be very similar to the fall semester.
Do your part, wear a mask, and follow the guidelines put out by the government, and hopefully we will be able to go back to school soon.
